A special guest attended the end-of-year Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI) Award ceremony. Kelsey Tackett, Director of Engagement for the Lighthouse Beacon Foundation, presented five CFI students with the Stanley and Karen Pigman Engineering Scholarship. Congratulations to Tyler Bray, Landon Bruner, Josh Collins, Camden Fields, and Megan Parsley!
The Lighthouse Beacon Foundation has awarded over 195 scholarships over the past 25 years through its Pigman Scholars Program at the University of Kentucky's Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering. The scholarships ensure students acquire the skills and traits to solve unique engineering challenges.
In addition to the scholarship, students will participate in an enrichment program that includes engagement activities, enriching classes, inspirational programs, and a formal mentoring platform.
In her closing remarks, Mrs. Tackett said, "We have full confidence that the students will make the most of this opportunity and continue to excel in their academic and professional journey toward becoming engineers."
Kate Ray, CFI Principal, remarked following Mrs. Tackett's presentation that "These students are living out the motto of CFI: Aim High! The knowledge and skills they have gained through our Engineering Technology program have provided the innovative thinking that sets them apart. On behalf of the faculty and staff at CFI, we are incredibly proud of their accomplishments.”
Also, South Laurel High School student Kobe Petro is a recipient of the Stanley and Karen Pigman Engineering Scholarship. Congratulations to Tyler, Landon, Josh, Camden, Kobe, and Megan on this outstanding scholarship opportunity!
