Laurel County Public Schools provides all students with an opportunity to explore their career interests and develop their technical education skills by offering numerous programs of study with diverse career pathways that meet the needs of a multitude of students that attend classes at South Laurel High School (SLHS), North Laurel High School NLHS), and the Laurel County Schools Center for Innovation (CFI).
Students at the CFI can choose to participate in programs such as Engineering Technology, Media Arts Technology, Computer Science, Industrial Technology, and Health Science.
Students at SLHS can choose to participate in programs such as Family & Consumer Science, Agriculture Education, Business and Marketing Education, and Air Force JRTOC.
Students at NLHS can choose to participate in programs such as Family & Consumer Science, Agriculture Education, Business and Marketing Education, and Navy JROTC.
“We are very pleased with the success our CTE students demonstrate each year,” remarked Dr. James M. Davis, CFI Principal.
Dr. Davis explained that Laurel County students continue to earn accolades and top-tier performance rankings annually at the regional and state levels for their participation in the Technology Students of America (TSA), the Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA), SkillsUSA, Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), and Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (JROTC) conferences and competitions. Students participate in various leadership programs and community service activities. Students have the opportunity to earn industry-recognized career-ready credentials and can earn college credits to help them become better prepared for postsecondary success.
