Five NLMS Band Students selected for Auburn University Middle School Honor Band
Auburn University hosted its 12th Annual Middle School Honor Band February 2 - 4, 2023 after a brief hiatus due to the pandemic. With this being the first Middle School Honor Band in three years, numerous applicants from various states applied to participate and five students from North Laurel Middle School were chosen to attend. They received notification in December that they were accepted. These students made the trip to Auburn to work with Composer William Owens and Conductor Tara Melvin (Autrey Middle School, Kennesaw, GA) to perform a Finale Concert to conclude their time at the honor band. Students also had the opportunity to perform in small ensembles and tour Auburn's campus, Jordan-Hare Stadium, and Neville Arena.
Selected students were:
Taegan Douglass - Clarinet
Jordan Handy - Flute - First Chair
Addison Mullins - Clarinet
Nathan Sears - Trumpet
Jacob Walker - Trombone
